Twitter Posters Flagged For Piling On Manti Te'o

Notre Dame All American Linebacker Manti Te'o may have come in second in the Heisman trophy voting, but he may have over taken Lance Armstrong for top spot as "jerk of the week" when it was revealed possibly the most inspirational story of the 2012 college football season, how he overcame the death of his girlfriend to cancer, to triumph against all odds, was a hoax.  His "girlfriend" in fact, never existed, as exposed by Deadspin.

Also, it was of note that his school, Notre Dame, found out the story was a hoax in late December, but didn't put out a statement until mid January, long after they played Alabama in the National Championship Game, and of course, exposed themselves as kind of a hoax as a contender for that.

As you can imagine, journalists were aghast and twitter exploded. Of particular note, the tweets from South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowny, who would be the top pick in the NFL draft this year, IF he was eligible. He's only a sophomore.  Evidence though, his wit is close to his considerable football talent!
