Fox News/News Corp Could Be Taking Aim At ESPN

Rupbert Murdoch's News Corp is said to be planning to enter the national sports channel  game in a big way, with a new national sports programming channel.

According to Bloomberg, News Corp. is assembling the required rights from pay-TV carriers and sports organizations, said the people, who requested anonymity because talks are private. While a final decision to move forward hasn’t been made, the company is considering converting its Fuel action-sports network to the new channel, two of the people said.

The news is big because if any company has the financial where with all to take on ESPN/Disney, it's News Corp, even with their tangles lately with the phone hacking scandal and other matters.

ESPN has locked up so many of the most popular broadcast rights, they are now the highest paid subscription channel by carriers.  Of course, these exorbitant fees are passed along to viewers through satellite TV and cable TV subscription rates.  That's one of the reasons your monthly bill keeps going up.

Former NAACP Leader Criticizes Sharpton, Jesse Jackson Over Martin Shooting

C.L. Bryant, a former leader in the NAACP, accuses Rev Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson of exploiting the Trayvon Martin shooting to racially divide the nation.

According to The Daily Caller, The conservative black pastor who was once the chapter president of the Garland, Texas NAACP called Jackson and Sharpton “race hustlers” and said they are “acting as though they are buzzards circling the carcass of this young boy.”

Jackson, for example, recently said Martin’s death shows how “blacks are under attack” and “targeting, arresting, convicting blacks and ultimately killing us is big business.”

But Bryant, who explores the topic of black-on-black crime in his new film “Runaway Slave,” said people like Jackson and Sharpton are being misleading to suggest there is an epidemic of “white men killing black young men.”
“The epidemic is truly black on black crime,” Bryant said. “The greatest danger to the lives of young black men are young black men.”

Bryant said he wishes civil rights leaders were protesting those problems.
“Why not be angry about the wholesale murder that goes on in the streets of Newark and Chicago?” he asked. “Why isn’t somebody angry about that six-year-old girl who was killed on her steps last weekend in a cross fire when two gang members in Chicago start shooting at each other? Why is there no outrage about that?"

Girl Calls Police After Hearing Her Mother Having Sex & Felt "Disrespected"

Panama City Police were called to settle a dispute after a girl claimed she felt "disrespected" by hearing her mother having sex.  According to the Panama City News Herald:

A Panama City Police officer was called to a local home where he found a mother and daughter arguing, according to a police report. The daughter said she wanted to go to leave her home and go to a foster care facility because "she heard her mother having sex."
The mother said she invited her boyfriend over and that sometime during the visit the daughter overheard the couple. The mother added that the bedrooms are next to each other and she did not intend to wake her daughter up.
"The daughter stated that there was no form of abuse of neglect in the house but she only felt disrespected," the officer wrote.
The daughter called the foster care facility and spoke with a staff member. After that conversation she told the officer that she no longer wanted to go to the facility because it was almost time for school.

Coach Cal to Leave Kentucky for Knicks?

According to ESPN, New York Knicks Coach Mike D'Antoni has resigned. No surprise, after a fleeting moment of Linsanity, the Knicks plunged back to earth with a thud.   For the time being, Assistant Mike Woodson is leading the team, but speculation already has it the next coach of the Knicks could be Kentucky's John Calipari, among others.
He coached in the NBA from 1996 to 2000, first as head coach of the New Jersey Nets and then as an assistant for the Philadelphia 76ers. His Nets went 72-112.  Not exactly a stellar NBA record.  So why would he do it? Money & Power. He could leverage his way to coach and GM of the Knicks.  For his part, Calipari is tweeting he isn't interested.
On the flip side, this sounds remarkably similar to the things Coach Cal was saying about Memphis, prior to bolting to Kentucky.  It would however, make sense to remain King of the Commonwealth, than have another dismal run in the NBA. I wouldn't expect him to leave for the Knicks unless there's a need to "get outta town" (Lexington) just ahead of NCAA investigators.
